ANKARA An Iraqi MP has claimed Saturday that the U.S. was planning to partially withdraw from Iraq should Daesh militants take control of the Habbaniyah air base in the city of Ramadi. Member of the Iraqi parliament Muwaffaq er-Rabbi, who previously served as national security undersecretary, said in a statement that “Washington, has ordered American advisors to prepare plans for partially withdrawing from Iraq in case Habbaniyah base passes under Daesh control.” The U.S. has sent about 3,000 soldiers to Iraq after Daesh. The American forces are training and advising Iraqi forces. On May 17, Daesh took control of Ramadi, in central Iraq, after overrunning Iraqi forces in the area. |
