German imports and exports reached their highest postwar level in March, according to figures released Monday.
Seasonally-adjusted exports rose 7.3 per cent to 98.3 billion euros (141 billion dollars) in March - the highest level since measurements began in 1950.
This was an increase of 15.8 per cent compared to exports during the same period last year, the federal statistics office reported.
Imports rose 3.1 per cent to 79.4 billion euros in March, also setting a new record and achieving a 16.9 per cent increase on March 2010.
The figures represent a trade surplus of 18.9 billion euros for March 2011 - an increase of 1.9 billion euros on the previous year. |
