Late on Friday, the U.S. government finally admitted to the extent of the disaster that is unfolding in Anbar province, specifically in the city of Ramadi. Officials say they are speeding up delivery of weaponry to Iraq to help the situation in Anbar.

At least 608 have been killed and 31 more have been wounded.

According to preliminary counts, at least 500 people have been killed in the fighting in Ramadi. That includes security personnel and civilians. At least 50 of those killed were tribal fighters and several top leaders. Baghdad sent in reinforcements on Saturday. Airstrikes may have led to the withdrawal of militants from government center.

In Baghdad, gunmen killed three men and two women at a suspected brothel. A bomb in Doura killed two soldiers and wounded three more. A sticky bomb on a minibus killed two people.

Two people were killed and nine more were wounded in a blast in Mahmoudiya.

Clashes in Samarra left eight militiamen with injuries.

In Garma, 21 militants were killed and 11 more were wounded.

Security forces in western Anbar killed 35 militants.

In Tal Afar, airstrikes left 22 militants dead.

Peshmerga forces killed 15 militants in Tal Asqaf.

Four militants were killed in al-Baghdadi
